Gentoo welcomes new Associate Director of Asset

We’re delighted to announce we have recently welcomed Peter Akers to the Group in his new role as Associate Director of Asset.

Peter joins the Group after 4 years at North Star Housing where he was Head of Asset and Property Services. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him after starting his career in local government as a project manager for transformational projects before specialising in social housing for the last 15 years.

Peter’s primary role will be to lead on the Group’s approach to strategic asset management. This will involve ensuring we have a clear understanding on the performance and sustainability of our stock, and closely working with other departments and external stakeholders to ensure Gentoo’s investment decisions improve the Group’s stock.

Speaking of his appointment, Peter said: “I’m happy to have joined Gentoo where I have been given the opportunity to lead and develop the Group’s approach to strategic asset management.

“I’m looking forward to learning about the performance and sustainability of the stock to ensure we maximise the impact of our £250m investment programme over the next 5 years.”

Marc Edwards, Director of Asset and Sustainability said: “I’m delighted to welcome Peter to the Asset and Sustainability Team here at Gentoo.

“Ensuring we make the right investment decisions with our existing stock is critical to ensure that our tenants continue to have a safe, decent home to live in.

“We have an ambitious plan of investment in our current stock to modernise facilities and improve energy efficiency over the next 5 years and Peter will ensure that we maximise the investment in our homes and that our tenants really see the benefit.”
