Rent a garage or car parking space

We have garages and spaces to rent across Sunderland. You can apply to use one for your car or for storage, but not as a place to live or run a business

Applying to rent a garage or car parking space

Anyone can apply for a garage or car parking space, but we give priority to Gentoo tenants.

How to apply

If you want to rent a garage or car parking space, fill in the rent a garage or car parking space application form.

Types of garages and who maintains them

Integral garages are part of the property or within the boundary of a property. If you have one of these garages, there is no extra cost and no separate tenancy agreement for your garage.

Battery garages are blocks of garages on land we own. If you rent one of these garages, we will give you a garage tenancy agreement.

We are responsible for maintaining and repairing integral and battery garages. If you have one of these garages and it needs to be repaired, you can call 0191 525 5000 or use My Gentoo to report a repair.

Site garages are on land you rent from us. If you have one of these garages, we will give you a site tenancy agreement. You are responsible for building, maintaining, and repairing a site garage.

Car parking spaces

Car parking spaces are next to some multi-storey blocks. There will be an agreement for a tenant or owner to pay rent for the space.

You can also rent car parking spaces in the River Quarter car park in the city centre.
