This year we have changed our apprenticeship scheme to focus on creating opportunity where it can have the greatest impact.
By offering apprenticeships to Gentoo customers and people who have been in care, we’re supporting individuals to develop skills, gain experience and build lasting careers.
This approach reflects our commitment to opportunity, inclusion and supporting our communities across Sunderland.

The entry requirements for our 2026 apprenticeships
In addition to the entry requirements, throughout the recruitment process we would be looking for you to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
• enthusiasm and a positive attitude
• be keen to learn, an attentive listener who can understand and follow instructions
• have effective communication skills and will not be afraid to ask questions
• be a team player, willing to work hard to get the job done efficiently, to a high standard and support their colleagues
• have good customer care skills – our customers are at the heart of our business so we are looking for people who want to make a difference
• to be a good problem solver and logical thinker
• have a good attention to detail
• have good I.T. skills
