We're proud to share we have invested in new talent as part of our commitment to fire and building safety.
In 2023, we made a £2.4 million investment into building safety in response to the Building Safety Act 2022. This led to the creation of our dedicated Fire and Building Safety Team to transform the way the Group responds to the safety of customers in our High Rise Residential Buildings.
We're pleased to announce the successful appointment of new graduate, trainee and apprentice roles within our Fire and Building Safety Team, marking a significant step in future-proofing Gentoo's ability to ensure the safety of our 60,000 customers.
These appointments form part of our long-term strategy to welcome new talent into the fire and building safety sector and to build a resilient, highly competent team equipped to meet the demands of evolving legislation, including the Building Safety Act 2022, the Fire Safety Act 2021 and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
Our Trainee Fire and Building Safety Advisor, now in their second year, is joined by a newly appointed Graduate Fire and Building Safety Advisor and Fire and Building Safety Apprentice. Together, they’ll support compliance and safety assurance across our diverse property portfolio, from domestic homes and multi-occupied buildings to sheltered schemes, offices and depots.
Each role comes with a clear development path to help new colleagues build the skills, knowledge and experience they need to succeed. Support is provided through experienced mentors, structured training, and hands-on learning.
Gemma Darville, Director of Safety, Risk and Assurance at Gentoo said:

It’s inspiring to be part of a team that’s not only leading the way in fire and building safety, but also investing in new talent to shape the future of the industry.”
