We're carrying out estate walkabouts for ASB Awareness Week

We are supporting antisocial behaviour awareness week

Next week, 3 to 9 July is antisocial behaviour awareness week.

Our experience has shown us that working with partners is essential to reduce antisocial behaviour and make people feel safer and more secure.

We work closely with agencies and partnerships, like the police, Sunderland City Council, Wearside Women in Need, ManKind, and the Safer Sunderland Partnership. This allows us to develop a shared understanding of responsibilities with one another.

Within our Community Safety Team we have a number of Community Safety Officers, who will help in any way they can. They provide unbiased, non-judgemental support for as long as tenants need it. They will:

  • reassure communities
  • take part in projects to reduce crime and disorder in a particular area
  • respond to specific problems affecting a neighbourhood

To show our support and raise awareness of the national awareness week we have organised a number of estate walkabouts. The details of each walkabout are listed below:

  • South Hendon on Tuesday 4 July at 2.00pm

Community Safety Officer: Mike Orchard

  • Pennywell on Tuesday 4 July at 2.00pm
  • Farringdon on Wednesday 5 July at 2.00pm

Community Safety Officer: Gary Davison

  • Castletown/Hylton Castle on Monday 3 July at 10.30am
  • Redhouse/Carley Hill on Tuesday 4 July at 10.30am
  • Southwick on Wednesday 5 July at 10.30am
  • Downhill on Thursday 6 July at 10.30am

Community Safety Officer: Delia Priest and representatives from the HALO project

  • Brickgarth on Tuesday 4 July at 10.30am
  • Queen Elizabeth Drive on Tuesday 4 July at 11.30am
  • Hetton on Wednesday 5 July at 2.00pm (includes a litter pick, security advice from Northumbria Police and safety advice from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service)

  • Washington – date and time TBC
