Today we have submitted fresh proposals for an affordable housing development in Hetton-Le-Hole.
We have updated our plans for the development at Cragdale Gardens to address concerns previously raised by residents in relation to loss of green space and overlooking onto existing properties in the area.
The revised plans include a higher number of bungalows on the scheme to reduce the visual impact of the development and increase the provision of accessible housing.
The proposed plans include 84 two, three- and four-bedroom houses and apartments, - a slight reduction on earlier proposals. Boundary treatments and gates have also been included to help prevent access from off-road vehicles and reduce anti-social behaviour in the area.
Joanne Gordon, Development Director at Gentoo Group, said: “We are absolutely committed to increasing the supply and accessibility of affordable housing in Sunderland through the construction of high-quality new homes for rent and shared ownership.
“We’re confident that these revised proposals address the concerns of local residents in relation to the original application and deliver a variety of spacious and flexible homes which address the housing needs of local peopl .”
If approved, the development would contribute over £200,000 in Section 106 payments to the local authority, which could be invested into the local area.
Shared Ownership is an affordable homeowner model in which customers can purchase a percentage of their home while renting the rest, helping more people get onto the property ladder without the need for large deposits. A proportion of the new homes will be made available for Shared Ownership sales if approved.
