More than 120 tenants and children attended a private screening of this year’s animated blockbuster Frozen 2 as part of the latest initiative in Sunderland to spread some festive cheer to young families across the city.
In partnership with Empire Cinema and Northumbria Police, the lucky tenants were invited along to the screening and were treated to a range of snacks and sweets before settling down to watch this year’s box office smash hit.
After experiencing the enchanting tale of Elsa, Anna and Olaf the snowman, Nigel Wilson Gentoo’s Chief Executive Officer, donned a Father Christmas costume and surprised the children to a special guest appearance. Each child then got to spend some time talking to ‘Santa’ before receiving a surprise Christmas gift on behalf of the three organisations.
Nigel Wilson, Chief Executive Officer at Gentoo said:
“Christmas is a time for giving and I’m really pleased we have been able to work in partnership with Empire and Northumbria Police to provide tenants and their young families with a festive morning at the cinema. Seeing the smiling faces of the children coming out of the screen was priceless and it’s clear how much everyone enjoyed it.
"There is some fantastic partnership work happening in Sunderland right now and this is just another example of this. Even if it did lead to me dressing up as Santa!”
