Our initiative to feed families with a Christmas dinner over the festive season has doubled in size this year to help more than 100 families on Wearside.
Gentoo colleagues and volunteers are delivering Christmas dinners, in partnership with Sunderland City Council and put together by the Council’s school meal service, to more than 100 Gentoo tenants and families across the city.
The initiative, which is now in its second year, aims to spread a little festive cheer and tackle hunger across the city by delivering the dinners free of charge to tenants who may not otherwise be able to enjoy a dinner. The dinners consist of turkey meat and all of the trimmings, along with a complimentary dessert, all of which were put together by the City Council's school meal service based at Barnes Academy in Sunderland.
Nigel Wilson, Chief Executive Officer at Gentoo Group, said:
“Working at the heart of the community in Sunderland, it’s hugely important we do our best to help our tenants and residents live their best possible lives. This is our way of helping some of our tenants who may not otherwise be able to enjoy a festive dinner on Christmas Day. I’d like to thank colleagues and volunteers who have helped to increase the size of the initiative to help even more families and who have gone out of their way to deliver the meals to our tenants.”
