We are delighted to announce that our Castle Rise project manager Peter Allsop, assistant project manager Kevin Miller and quantity surveyor Alan Huggins have all been recognised in the NHBC (National House Building Council) Pride in the Job Awards 2017.
The annual Pride in the Job Awards, now in its 37th year, is one of the most highly regarded competitions in house building. The awards are dedicated to recognising site managers across the UK who achieve the highest standards in building high quality homes. Judging for the awards is rigorous, beginning in July 2016, with every site manager assessed across 44 areas of site management, including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and the quality controls in place.
Peter Allsop said of the award: “I am honoured to receive an award of this prestige and this could not be done without the efforts of our site team. We have thoroughly enjoyed working on Castle Rise and witnessing its continued success. I am proud that customers will now have extra assurance in the quality of their new homes.”
Colin Wood, Managing Director of Gentoo Homes, said: “At Gentoo Homes, we are determined to provide high quality, sustainable homes that people will be proud to call their own. This success reflects the expertise and hard work of Peter, Kevin and Alan and those working alongside them and I am delighted that their commitment to delivering homes of the highest quality has been recognised.”
Commenting on the Awards, Neil Jefferson, NHBC Managing Director said:
“Congratulations to all the 2017 Quality Award winners – the strength of this year’s entries coupled with the judges’ long and hard deliberations over selecting around 450 winners from more than 16,000 site managers should give great pride to them all and their teams.
“Every year, the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards give us the chance to celebrate the efforts site managers go to promoting continuous improvement in the quality of new homes, year on year, for homeowners and their families to enjoy.”
As first round winners, Peter and Kevin will now go on to compete for NHBC’s Seal of Excellence and Regional Award in their category, with the Supreme Award Winners announced at a gala ceremony in January 2018.
Our Castle Rise development, based in Downhill, is a collection of 88 newly built two, three and four bedroomed houses and bungalows suitable for mixed tenure. The development has met the diverse housing needs of local people in Sunderland whilst helping a number of young people onto the housing ladder for the first time.
Castle Rise has been extremely successful, becoming one of the fastest selling developments in the company’s history and was recently shortlisted as Best Small New Housing Development at the Northern LABC Building Excellence Awards earlier this year.
