The annual switch on event, in Keel Square, Sunderland city centre, kicks off at 5.30pm on Thursday November 22. The event is being hosted by Sun FM presenter Simon Grundy, and entertainment includes festive music from local groups and choirs. Some special guests are still to be announced and the event will conclude with a fireworks display and the lights being switched on.
Hadrian's Tipi is also on Keel Square, offering festive food and drinks, and city centre shops will be open late.
Free parking is available after 3pm in the nearby St Mary’s car park.
