Easter campaign to support hundreds of Sunderland families

Our annual Easter campaign, which usually sees Easter Eggs given to families who are struggling, has been refreshed for 2022. With soaring food and fuel prices, we wanted to do more than provide a chocolate egg this year.

With the support of our contracting partners, we have collected thousands of food items, to create Easter Hampers. The hampers are bursting with essentials including cereal, pasta, toiletries and Easter treats. They will be distributed by our employees ahead of the Easter Bank Holiday.

Hampers from the campaign will be given to families and isolated individuals who are struggling. They will also be given to those who deserve a treat following a challenging two years, during the pandemic.

The appeal is a collective effort by our employees and donations from our contractors, Bell Group, Equans, Tolent and Venson. Together with our partners we all hope that this small gesture can help raise the spirits of the local community this Easter.

Nigel Wilson, Chief Executive Officer at Gentoo, said: “It has been a big ask this year, but the generosity of our contractors and employees who support our campaign always astounds me. I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this year’s campaign possible.

“This is an incredibly worrying time for many people and families. I hope the gift of an Easter hamper can make a small difference to those who receive one this weekend.”
