Families, including a mother and her two-year-old daughter have secured dream new homes, courtesy of Gentoo Group housing association, at Cottier Grange in Prudhoe.
Caitlin Hall and her daughter Charlotte recently moved into their beautiful new rented property, which is set amongst vast woodland in the Tyne Valley.
Caitlin said: “We used to live on the Front Street in Prudhoe in an upstairs flat and I would dream of a garden for Charlotte to play in. I now look out of my living room window to stunning woodland and we’ve seen squirrels and deer, it’s absolutely lovely.”
Caitlin found her home at Cottier Grange on the Northumberland Homefinder website and was delighted to receive the news that her application had been a success.
Caitlin added: “I found the application process straightforward. My suitability and financial checks were completed in a matter of weeks and it was fantastic news to hear we had secured such an amazing home.
"The best bit about living here is definitely the unspoilt woodland view, it is so picturesque. Charlotte starts nursery in May so we’ll be enjoying the countryside walk each day and I can’t wait to fill our lovely sunny garden with toys and new garden furniture, it is so special.”
Gordon Stewart, County Councillor (Prudhoe South) added: “I am delighted that such properties are now available in this beautiful location offering modern homes to local families allowing them to remain in the town, and therefore releasing other housing stock.”
Derek and Gail Myers, also new residents who have moved into their rented property at Cottier Grange said: “We absolutely love everything about this place and we can’t stop smiling! We are spotting wildlife every day and the woodland is perfect for taking the dog on brisk walks. A few years ago we were lucky to survive Carbon Monoxide poisoning in a privately rented flat so we can’t tell you how much we value having Gentoo as a supportive, trusted and reliable landlord. It really is a life saver!”
The first nine rental properties of the overall 61 are now occupied, with further properties to be added via the Northumberland Homefinder website at later dates.
Colin McCartney, Head of Operations, Gentoo Group said: “This is a hugely important development for Gentoo, our partners and the local community. We are delighted that Gentoo is building an element of much needed affordable housing which is enabling residents of Prudhoe to access modern, family homes in such a beautiful location. It has been fantastic to hear how delighted the new residents are and how easy they found the application process. I would like to wish them many happy, memorable years ahead in their brand new homes.”
Those interested in applying for a home with affordable rent on this outstanding development must have a local connection to the area.
