On Monday 13th June 2016, community volunteers from the Sulgrave Centre held an event to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday. The event was supported by Joanne Coulson, Community Partnership Coordinator at Gentoo, Maureen, Community worker at ASDA and the local Gentoo area office.
Residents from Sulgrave and the neighbouring areas were invited to a free tea party after school which included entertainment from WizaDora (a children’s entertainer), a magician and face painting.
The event proved to be popular with local councillors in attendance. Mary Jordan, a community volunteer said “It was a fantastic day and I am very pleased it was well attended, it was hard work, but a thoroughly enjoyable day!”
A special thanks to ASDA who provided the majority of the food, and brought along the Queen on the day.
Feedback from the event was very positive with both volunteers and local residents looking forward to the next one – which will be a Halloween Party!
