We are delighted that our annual gardening competition is back for 2021 and we're welcoming applications from green-fingered tenants, schools and community groups.
This year we have top prizes of up to £200 available for winning gardens, with our judges looking to recognise those who have pride in their homes, neighbourhood and community.
The categories for this year are:
The judges will be looking for gardens that improve the appearance of neighbourhoods and show the hard work that’s taken place across Sunderland’s gardens.
All entries are subject to permissions for work carried out in gardens. We encourage you to speak to your Neighbourhood Coordinator for more details.
Whether you’re a beginner gardener, green fingered, or a school or community group, the competition is open to you!
Entries should be submitted before Friday 18 June 2021 and judging will take place from 28 June 2021. The winner will be announced shortly after. Good luck!
In this category, judges will pay special attention to well-kept lawns, tidy borders, flowers, shrubs and hedges.
This category will recognise the excellent work schools and community groups in Sunderland are doing to introduce young people and the city's residents to gardening and horticulture.
You can enter the competition below by submitting an online application form, or you're welcome to download an application and enter by post.
