We've secured £1.415 million in additional grant funding through the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund Wave 3 to support the delivery of energy efficiency works over the next 12 months, reinforcing its commitment to providing warm homes, and reducing energy costs for customers.
The funding will be match funded by Gentoo, bringing our total energy efficiency spend for the year to over £7.2 million.
The funding will see homes benefit from measures such as Solar PV, loft and cavity wall insulation, low energy lighting and smart heating controls. These improvements will make homes more energy efficient and more affordable to heat.
This investment comes at a crucial time as customers continue to face pressure from the ongoing energy crisis. By improving the energy performance of our homes, we aim to reduce household energy bills, improve comfort and warmth and support customers with the rising cost of living.
We are delivering this project as part of the Tees Valley Combined Authority consortium, which has secured over £56 million in Warm Homes funding for social housing providers in the North East. From this, we have been awarded £7.6 million to support delivery over the three-year programme, contributing to a total works value of £13.6 million and enabling improvements to over 1,800 homes across Sunderland.
This latest award means we have now secured over £12.7 million in grant funding through energy efficiency programmes, enabling continued progress towards improving the quality and sustainability of our customers' homes.
Peter Akers, Director of Asset and Sustainability at Gentoo said: “This funding is a fantastic opportunity to accelerate our plans to improve the energy efficiency of our homes. It means we can support even more customers by making homes warmer and helping to reduce energy costs during a challenging time"
