Our Mobile Housing Hub is back on the road after a successful trial last year, bringing advice, support and services directly into communities across Sunderland.

First launched in June 2025, the travelling hub was created to make it easier for customers to access face-to-face support without needing to travel. Offering advice on topics including rent, repairs, tenancy matters, digital access, financial wellbeing and more, the service forms part of our commitment to improving customer experience and strengthening relationships within local communities.

Last year’s trial proved a success, with 93% of customers surveyed saying the Mobile Housing Hub was a good idea and 84% stating they would use the service if they needed support. In addition, 92% of customers said they wanted the Hub to return.

Following customer feedback, the hub is now back out on the road visiting neighbourhoods across Sunderland from July to October, giving customers convenient access to support closer to home.

The service has already made a positive impact in its first week back in July, with 100% of customers who visited the Hub saying their questions and concerns were answered and that it was easy to engage with the team.

Kelly Patton, Head of Neighbourhoods at Gentoo, said:

"We are delighted to bring our Mobile Housing Hub back to communities across Sunderland following the fantastic feedback we received from customers last year. We know that visiting customers in their neighbourhoods helps remove barriers and makes it easier for people to access the support they need.

"Whether customers want to discuss repairs, rent, money advice or wellbeing support, our team is here to help. The response during our first week back has been incredibly encouraging, and we're looking forward to meeting even more customers over the coming months."

The Mobile Housing Hub will visit communities across Sunderland throughout July, August, September and October, providing customers with a friendly and accessible space to speak with Gentoo colleagues and get support on a range of housing-related issues.
