Albany Gardening Club residents awarded 'Best Communal Garden' in annual gardening competition

Residents at our sheltered housing scheme, Albany House have been recognised for their hard work creating a beautiful communal garden for residents and their families to enjoy.

Residents were awarded with the ‘Best Communal Garden’ award in our annual gardening competition, winning a trophy, certificate and £200 worth of vouchers, kindly sponsored by our supplier Panacea Software.

Albany Gardening Club get together every few weeks to work in the garden, which features beds of colourful flowers, plants and ornaments, all provided by the residents through fundraising activities.

Jade Maughan, Scheme Manager at Albany House said: “The residents were over the moon to be awarded ‘Best Communal Garden.’ The residents formed a gardening club this year and have completed raffles and fundraisers to raise the funds for plants, containers and compost. The group has had a great social impact on the residents whilst also creating a beautiful area for other residents who are unable to garden, to sit back and enjoy.”

Now in its eighth year, our city-wide ‘Ready, Set, Grow’ competition encourages customers, local schools and community groups to showcase their gardening talent.

The annual competition launches in Spring each year and is announced via our social media channels.
