Kicking off Christmas with some festive fun for more than 1000 customers

Thanks to a partnership with The Foundation of Light, more than 1000 Gentoo customers enjoyed a free festive family fun day on Monday 23 December. 

The event was a huge success and the perfect way to kick off the Christmas holidays, with families enjoying a range of activities including football, bouncy castles, a UV dance party, gingerbread decorating and festive arts and crafts. Free food was provided, and children also had the chance to meet Santa and Mrs Claus.   

Gentoo customer Rachel who attended the Beacon of Light with her family said: “everybody feels the pinch at this time of year, so it’s great that it’s free.” 

Louise Bassett, Chief Executive Officer said: “What a brilliant day at the Beacon of Light with our customers and partners. We’ve had some fantastic feedback from customers who enjoyed a day of festive fun, diverse activities and even a visit from Santa and Mrs Claus. We know Christmas is a hard time for many of our customers, so we wanted to give them the opportunity to make some lasting festive memories with their families. A big thank you to our partners, The Foundation of Light, Culture Start and Barclays for helping to make today a huge success. On behalf of everyone at Gentoo, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.” 

Colleagues were on hand to answer queries, complaints and offer help and advice. Barclays was in attendance to offer further support to customers and Culture Start provided arts and crafts and musical entertainment.  

Customers could also help themselves to pre-loved winter clothing that had been donated by colleagues as well as gifts and toys from the Your Gentoo Christmas campaign.  

Lesley Spuhler, Foundation of Light Chief Executive said: “We are thrilled to continue building our partnership with Gentoo by hosting another family fun day. The Beacon of Light brings our community together, and this event is a perfect example—spreading festive cheer, encouraging new experiences, and leaving everyone with smiles and the magic of the season.” 

Customers who completed a survey on the day were entered into a draw to win a variety of prizes including a Samsung Galaxy phone, Echo Dots, vouchers, food hampers and more, with thanks a range of Gentoo partners Waterstons and AON Insurance. Winners will be contacted by Gentoo in the next few weeks.
