We would like to express our profound sadness on hearing of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
On behalf of those in Sunderland, Gentoo would also like to extend sincere condolences to members of the Royal Family.
Many of you may have fond memories of Her Majesty’s many visits to Sunderland during her reign. This includes the official opening of the Tyne and Wear Metro in 1981, and the opening of Sunderland Royal Hospital’s new maternity unit in 2000.
During this time, we will be observing the official period of mourning and respecting the wishes of the Palace.
