We're looking for an Independent Risk Specialist to join the Group

We’re delighted to have launched a recruitment campaign in search for an Independent Risk Specialist to join Gentoo in a non-executive advisory role.

We’re looking for someone to join our G1 rated governance structure and become a key member of Gentoo’s Risk and Audit Committee, to support the Group as we navigate through a changing policy environment and progress our recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017, there has been a considerable amount of sector focus on building safety and the voice of social housing tenants, which has been emphasised through the release of the Government’s Social Housing White Paper. The UK’s journey to carbon net zero and the social housing sector’s subsequent decarbonisation agenda also provides opportunities and challenges for the Group alongside changes to the Decent Homes Standard.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with us as move forward to make the most of these opportunities and tackle the challenges, providing constructive feedback and expert advice to the Group’s Executive Team.

The ideal candidate will act as an ambassador for the Group and be part of an organisation that is committed to delivering truly safe and secure affordable housing in Sunderland. They will also have a strong understanding of risk assessment, management and mitigation techniques and of landlord and tenant health and safety requirements.

Keith Loraine OBE, Chair of Gentoo Group, said:

“This is a hugely important role for Gentoo and I am pleased to launch our recruitment campaign. The safety of our buildings and the voice of our tenants are both absolutely fundamental to the way we operate and the services we provide. This is a key position to ensure the Gentoo Group Board gain independent assurance on these important areas.”
