We're proud to be supporting Gas Safety Week 2025

We are proud to be supporting Gas Safety Week 2025 to raise awareness about the importance of gas safety in our homes.

As a responsible landlord, we have a legal responsibility to complete a gas safety check once a year for all homes with a gas meter or gas pipework. This helps keep our customers, their families and neighbours safe from gas and carbon monoxide leaks.

This year’s theme is “Looking after your home, friends and family”, reminding us all that gas safety is a shared responsibility. We all have a role to play in keeping each other safe.

In 2024/25, we recorded 7122 missed gas service appointments. The missed appointments cost us around £498,500.That’s the equivalent to installing 269 new boilers.

These missed appointments are not only costly, but they delay essential safety checks.

James Haste, Director of Property Maintenance at Gentoo Group said: “We’re proud to support Gas Safety Week and highlight the importance of annual gas safety checks. I’d like to remind our customers how crucial it is to allow access for these appointments. The safety of our customers and communities is our top priority, and these checks ensure your home and appliances are safe, secure and working as they should.”

At Gentoo, we have over 90 Gas Safe Registered colleagues trained to service and repair gas appliances safely and professionally.

To keep you and your family safe, follow Gas Safe Register’s top tips:

  • Know the signs of carbon monoxide poisoning: headaches, nausea, breathlessness, dizziness, collapse and loss of consciousness.
  • Watch for warning signs: a yellow flame instead of a crisp blue one, error messages or strange noises from your boiler, or dark, sooty stains around your gas appliances.
  • Keep vents clear: they help your appliances work safely and efficiently.
  • Smell gas? Act fast: call the free 24-hour national gas emergency number on 0800 111 999.

Need to reschedule your gas safety appointment? Gentoo customers should contact us immediately to rearrange by calling 0800 5877 809.
