Ready, Set, Grow! Win prizes in our annual gardening competition

We’re excited to invite green-fingered enthusiasts across Wearside to take part in our gardening competition.

This competition is our way of celebrating the passion and creativity of our customers, local schools, and community groups. It’s a chance for you to show off your gardening skills and share the beauty of your green spaces with others.

We’ve got two categories this year:

  • Best Overall Garden – for Gentoo customers
  • Best Community or School Garden – for schools and community groups in Sunderland

Our judges will be looking for gardens that brighten up the neighbourhood and reflect the dedication and hard work of everyone involved.

Chris Roberts, Director of Customer, said:

“At Gentoo, we want to recognise and celebrate the people who take pride in their homes, gardens and communities. Over the years, our gardening competition has highlighted some impressive gardens, and we’re excited to see what this year brings. We welcome entries from gardeners of all experience levels.”

“Whether you're a first time gardener, a seasoned pro, or part of a school or community group, we’d love for you to enter.”

Here’s how to take part:

  • If you’re entering the Best Overall Garden category, you must be a Gentoo customer and have received permission for any work done in your garden.
  • If you’re part of a school or community group in Sunderland, you’re eligible for the Best Community/School Garden category.

You can apply here: www.gentoogroup.com/grow

The deadline for applications is Friday 4 July.

Judging will take place in July and the winners will be announced shortly after.
