We have strengthened our Property Investment team with new senior appointments.
David Summers has joined the Group as Assistant Director of Planned Investment and Commercial, alongside Samantha Granger, who has joined as Assistant Director of Asset Strategy and Data.
David and Samantha will work alongside Peter Akers, Director of Asset and Sustainability, Marc Edwards, Executive Director of Property and James Haste, Director of Property Maintenance at Gentoo as we embark on a £250 million five-year investment plan to modernise our existing homes.
David joins Gentoo following a 29-year career at Home Group, where he was Head of Safety and Compliance. David brings with him a wealth of knowledge of the social housing sector, working in various roles throughout his career including Head of Maintenance, Contract Management and procurement roles.
David will oversee asset investment and commercial work including the Gentogether partnership and work to deliver Gentoo’s multi-million-pound investment plan.
Samantha joins Gentoo from Thirteen Group, where she was Director of Asset Management. Samantha has over 14 years experience in the social housing sector and has been in senior positions responsible for delivering sustainability strategies and multi-million-pound projects.
Samantha will oversee Gentoo’s asset strategy and data to ensure the Group’s asset performance is optimised and investment planning is delivered effectively through accurate data.

Speaking of her appointment, Samantha said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Gentoo and to have the opportunity to lead the asset and sustainability strategy, working alongside a brilliant team to ensure our customers’ are living in comfortable, energy efficient homes.”
Following a successful recruitment campaign within Property, several other appointments have been made including Head of Support Services, Empty Homes Operations Manager, Gas and Plumbing Operations Manager, Estate Services Operation Manager, Quantity Surveying roles and a Project Manager.
Gentoo has further strengthened its project teams within Property and Asset, with recent promotions and recruitment creating a full female project management team. The team consists of Project Manager, Rhiannon Brackenbury, Project Surveyor, Elle Graham- Cowans and Customer Experience Co-ordinator, Tina Pilmore. The team are responsible for delivering a large proportion of our £44m investment plan.
