Every voice matters: A unique opportunity to train to become a board member at Gentoo

We’re looking to recruit local people in the North East to join a training programme that is specifically aimed at recruiting and developing people from underrepresented groups, who can provide diverse thinking and experience of different lived experiences, to become potential board or committee members at housing associations.

If you are someone who is passionate about our communities and local areas, with a strong social purpose and want to have a voice that will shape and influence Gentoo, we would really like to hear from you.

You don’t need to have experience and knowledge about the housing sector, that’s what the training and development programme is for.

It’s an exciting programme with access to expert advice and training. We're looking for people who are committed to the values, purpose and culture of an organisation that provides much needed housing for our communities, and who can commit to a two-year programme and who want to develop new skills.

We're working with leading national housing charity, Housing Diversity Network (HDN), to provide this unique opportunity to people in the North East. The time commitment is around two days a month, which can fit around work and other commitments.

You'll be paid £1,500 per year and reasonable expenses will be covered.

To apply, we would like you to send a short statement of no more than 500 words, outlining why you would like to join the programme.

Please send this to jo.noble@

by Friday 5 March 2021, or call Jo on 0191 525 2852 if you do not have access to email.

If you’d like some more information before you send in your statement, you can also call Jo for an informal chat.
