New affordable homes to be released at heart of Tyne Valley

We're delighted to be bringing a number of new affordable homes for rent to Cottier Grange, a new housing development at the heart of the Tyne Valley.

The newly built properties, which will be two bedroomed, will be launched via the Northumberland Homefinder website from midnight on Wednesday 30 January 2019.

We'll be releasing a total 61 new affordable homes for rent at the picturesque Cottier Grange development over the next few years, 13 of which we hope will be occupied by the spring.

Anyone interested in applying for the homes will need to be registered with the Northumberland Homefinder website.

Applications will be accepted during the next bidding window, between midnight on Wednesday 30 January and midnight on Monday 4 February 2019. Further properties available for rent at Cottier Grange will be advertised at later dates - also via the Northumberland Homefinder website.

Susie Thompson, Director of Neighbourhoods at Gentoo Group, said: “As a housing association with its roots firmly in the North East, providing much needed affordable housing for local people is hugely important to us and we’re delighted to be bringing these new homes for rent to such a unique housing development in the Tyne Valley.”

Speaking during a recent visit to the development, Hexham MP, Guy Opperman, said: “It was great to see the new affordable housing that Gentoo is providing for local people in Prudhoe, and the surrounding area; these are quality homes in a beautiful area facing woodland and the Stanley Burn.”

A total of £79m is being invested by Gentoo Homes to transform the development, with 404 new homes being provided on the site. As with any new housing development, there is a requirement to provide some form of affordable housing contribution. At Cottier Grange, 61 of the new homes will be two bedroom and available for affordable rent via Gentoo Group, with a further 60 three bedroom homes available to purchase at a discounted market value (DMV) via private housebuilder, Gentoo Homes.
