We've appointed five new members to our Group Board.
Joining the Board are Frank Nicholson, an experienced non-executive Director and former Managing Director of Vaux Breweries Ltd in Sunderland and Keith Loraine, who has 40 years of experience in the housing sector and was CEO of Isos Housing for 24 years.
David Murtagh joins the Board as Chair of Risk and Audit, a Chartered Accountant who has held senior Finance roles in the manufacturing sector. David has 9-years’ experience on the Board of Teesside-based Thirteen Group.
Additionally, former policeman Les Herbert is now the tenant member of the Board. Les has been a member of the Gentoo Sunderland Board since 2012 and brings extensive experience to the Group role.
Chris Watson has been co-opted to the Board. Chris is a civil engineer and Head of Strategic Asset Planning at Northumbrian Water Ltd with extensive non-executive experience.
Commenting on the new appointments, Group Chairman Ian Self said: “I was astonished at the interest shown in joining the Board at Gentoo. We had close to 100 people apply for consideration.
“This is an exciting time to welcome the new Board members into the Group and I am particularly pleased to be able to appoint from such a diverse range of professional backgrounds. The new members will bring something invaluable to the governance of Gentoo and will supplement the skill set of the existing Board members.”
Chief Executive Officer John Craggs added: “Our new Board members will play an integral role in helping us to deliver our business strategy, working alongside our executive team. I’m confident that the new appointees are going to make an important and positive impact on the future of our business.”
