Building future careers in Sunderland – We are recruiting 16 new apprentices

PLEASE NOTE - APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

We are looking for 16 new apprentices to start in September 2016. This is not only to future proof our business, it’s also part of our commitment to providing new career and learning opportunities. We see it as an important part of our workforce planning ensuring we have the right people with the right skills to deliver services in the future. To date we've created over 220 apprenticeships since 2001.

Working in partnership with Sunderland College one of the region’s largest apprenticeship providers, we are looking to recruit apprentices for a number of skilled trades including electrical, gas, plumbing and bricklaying. We are also looking to recruit arboriculture, roofing and business administration apprentices as well as a construction development apprentice for our house building arm.

Job descriptions for all the available roles can be found below.

Owen Smith, Former Quantity Surveying Apprentice, Gentoo said: “My apprenticeship has gave me experience of working with new people every day. It has gave me the opportunity to develop new skills and helped me adapt quickly to an office environment. Gentoo has really supported me throughout my apprenticeship and through my Level 3 Diploma and NVQ which I am really grateful for. I’ve now secured a permanent position at Gentoo as a Trainee Assistant Project Manager, building on the skills I’ve acquired in my time as an apprentice”.

An open day will be held at Gentoo offices in Doxford Park (Akeler House, SR3 3XR) on Saturday 2 July from 10am – 2pm. Applicants will be able to find out more about the vacancies and the application process. Staff will also be on hand to offer advice and support with completing the application form as well as further information on job roles.

Applicants will need to apply online via gentoopeople.com and roles will be advertised from Monday June 27 2016 (closing date Friday 15 July 2016).
