We're delighted to announce 7,000 homes in Sunderland are set to benefit from home improvements, as part of our multi-million-pound Property Investment Plan for 2022-23.
Home improvements will range from roof replacements to bathroom renewals.
This year’s investment plan will also see the Group continue to replace all single glazed windows in its properties with 1,900 homes across Washington and Thorney Close set to receive new double-glazed windows.
The Group will be working with several contractors to complete this year’s improvement work across the city.
The list of investment programmes this year includes:
- Painting to the outside of properties
- Window replacements
- Roof replacements
- Kitchen and bathroom replacements
- Electrical rewires
- Canopy renewals
- Garage improvements and demolitions
- Energy upgrades including loft insulation
- Installations of fire safety equipment to high rise blocks
- Replacing the district heating in Washington
- Communal boiler replacements at Lakeside Village
- Fire alarm replacements
- Chimney repair works
As part of our drive to reduce carbon emissions in Sunderland, we are improving the energy efficiency of hundreds of properties by installing improved loft insultation. The scheme, which is part funded through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, is part of our continued effort to shield tenants from rising energy costs and lift the EPC rating of its properties to band C.
Marc Edwards, Director of Asset and Sustainability at Gentoo Group, said: “We know it’s extremely important to our tenants that we continue to invest significantly in their homes and their neighbourhoods. I’m delighted to announce that more than 7,000 homes will receive improvements during 2022-23.
“This year’s investment plan is another huge commitment to enhance our existing properties across Sunderland, and we look forward to working with our partners to deliver these improvements for our tenants.”
This announcement follows the unveiling of our £19-million-pound investment into Pennywell, where 1100 properties will benefit from a unique whole-house improvement over the next three years. The first 250 homes will be completed this year when work starts in October.
If you are a Gentoo tenant and your home is part of the schemes, you will be contacted directly by Gentoo and its contracting partners.
