Gentoo shortlisted in UK Housing Awards for our outstanding approach to Income Management

We are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted in the UK Housing Awards for our outstanding approach to Income Management.

This award recognises an approach which has sustained high levels of income collection in a financial environment which is more challenging than ever for both landlords and their tenants.

The UK Housing Awards, organised by Inside Housing and the Chartered Institute of Housing showcase the best the housing sector has to offer.

In 2015-16 we fundamentally reviewed our operational delivery model. To complement this we strengthened key support services such as our dedicated Money Matters Team, who have received specialist training in order to support our most financially vulnerable customers.

Through the hard work and dedication of our teams in 2016-17 we exceeded our rent collection targets, collecting 100.35% of collectable debit (against a target of 99.89%) with a reduction of £107,417 in standard arrears from 2015-16. This being a continued trend since our Money Matters Team was introduced. During 2016-17 the team helped 1,699 customers claim £424,295 worth of benefits or grants and £635,607 worth of debt was identified and advised upon, helping to improve lives and increase a customers’ ability to pay.

As we’ve been shortlisted we’ll get the chance to pitch our work to leaders from the sector and beyond, alongside EMH Group, Homes in Sedgemoor, Newlon Housing Trust, Poplar Harca, Portsmouth City Council, Swan Housing Association and Worthing Homes who have also been shortlisted in this category.

The winners will be announced on Wednesday 2 May 2018 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.
