We’re on the lookout for tenants who are interested in working with us to improve our services.
We pride ourselves on being a provider of great homes, but we realise we don’t always get things right. That’s why we’re recruiting tenants who’d like to volunteer as part of our Ustoo Scrutiny Group.
If you'd like to be involved in the group, please complete the below form and a member of our Governance Team will get in touch.
Our Ustoo Customer Scrutiny Group is a panel of volunteers who independently scrutinise the services Gentoo provides. This is an opportunity for you to help improve services and make informed decisions that can make our communities stronger.
The social housing green paper (published in August 2018) aimed to rebalance the relationship between tenants and landlords and place a prominence on tenant engagement.
Gentoo is also an early adopter of the National Housing Federation's 'Together for Tenants initiative' which looks to strengthen the relationship between housing associations and their tenants and residents.
The Ustoo Scrutiny Group is just one of the ways Gentoo looks to engage with tenants, to allow them to assist us in improving services.
- Help Gentoo shape our tenant services
- To enhance your CV with volunteer work
- Get formal committee experience
- Meet like minded people in your area
- Get experience in project working
- Gain experience acting as Chair person (for Chair vacancy only)
You don’t need any specific skills or experience to join the group – all we ask is that you can dedicate the time to attend various meetings and that you’re passionate about helping us to improve. You’ll need to be available for at least two hours per week for eight to ten weeks.
We’ll provide all facilities and hospitality for these meetings, so you won’t be out of pocket.
The remit of the group is to scrutinise services and approaches to ensure that Gentoo is providing the best possible service with tenants at the heart of decision making.
You will need to be prepared to work both individually and as part of a team to:
- Decide on a programme of customer scrutiny
- Request evidence
- Review, analyse and interpret evidence (through site visits, tenant surveys, policy reviews, shadowing and mystery shopping)
- Agree findings and recommendations
- Monitor agreed improvement action plans
Must be either a tenant of Gentoo, or a member of a Gentoo neighbourhood and must be motivated in improving Gentoo for the good of all and not for personal gain
If this sounds like something you might be interested in, you can complete the form below and a member of our Governance Team will get in touch with you to discuss further.
