Gardening Competition

We are delighted to announce that Give it a Grow – our annual gardening competition is back and we are welcoming applications from green-fingered tenants and schools.

Categories and Criteria

Most improved and interesting garden
This category will recognise gardens that are interesting and eye catching. Judges will consider the quality of lawns, borders, hedges and any quirky additions. Special consideration will also be given to gardens where environmental initiatives have been incorporated.

Best school garden/greenhouse
This category will recognise the excellent work schools in Sunderland are doing to introduce young people to gardening and horticulture. Judges will consider the design and maintenance of the garden/greenhouse as well as the level of involvement from young people and the benefits to the school. Special consideration will also be given to gardens/greenhouses where environmental initiatives have been incorporated.

Top Tip: Take photographs throughout the process which can be used as supporting evidence on judging day!
