Plumber

You will be responsible for the installation of new domestic heating systems along with the provision of all planned and reactive general plumbing maintenance demands in both occupied and void properties across all areas of the city.

You will have experience in Heating/Plumbing and Repairs/installations in a domestic environment, along with competency in other secondary trades, however solely Plumbing experience will still be considered. You will have excellent customer service skills and an effective communication style with a confident approach that gives you the ability to influence others, build and maintain relationships and play a vital part in a team to deliver this service and find solutions to problems.

The post requires you to hold a current full UK driving licence and be able to meet the travel requirements of the post.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor. Applicants should have a sound knowledge and awareness of construction, procurement and construction contracts and be able to demonstrate excellent commercial, financial reporting, technical and negotiation skills. 
Effective communication skills are also essential as the role will involve financial agreements between Gentoo Homes and other internal and external bodies.

A ‘can do’ attitude and willingness to learn is most important.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a person who has extensive experience in the financial management of new build construction contracts and would welcome applications from candidates with experience from across all forms of construction, including but not limited to, housebuilding.

The successful applicant will be expected to provide a consistently high level of cost control and provide detailed monthly cost reports on several schemes in accordance with set procedures. They will also be expected to deal with any financial issues that may arise professionally and be proactive in reporting and suggesting solutions to any issues that may arise.

The post will involve some travel across the North East and applicants must have access to transport to enable this. The post is subject to a basic disclosure.

An opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced Land and Planning Coordinator to join Gentoo Homes. The role will involve assisting in the development and management of Gentoo Homes’ land portfolio including identifying and securing land and development opportunities and obtaining planning consents to enable the successful implementation of the Gentoo Homes forward Business Plan and future land bank.

We have an exciting opportunity available to join the Landlord Compliance team. You will support the delivery of the groups Landlord Compliance by ensuring comprehensive records are maintained on all aspects of Landlord Compliance and make payments to contractors for work completed in accordance with Governance and Financial Regulations. Working closely with the delivery team and asset management team, you will report on defined compliance KPI's and undertake data validation to identify data issues, taking into account stakeholder requirements, demonstrate compliance and inform the investment programme going forward.

The successful candidate will have experience of validating and analysing data in line with regulatory requirements, producing in depth reports along with an understanding of Landlord Compliance obligations. With excellent communication and IT skills, you will have the confidence to influence and challenge key stakeholders. The successful applicant will be operating throughout the North East working across existing developments and future pipeline sites providing surveying support to assist with the delivery of the Engineering function and checking site compliance with drawings / specifications and preparing as built records. You will help the Engineering team with initial site analysis and topographical surveys to aid land viability reports and assist the Senior Civil Engineer with the preparation of 3D ground models / cut & fill exercises. Opportunities will be available to work alongside the Senior Civil Engineer on design to support career progression.

What we are looking for

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of site setting out, ideally from a new build housing background with a Civil Engineering ground-works sub-contractor covering roads, sewers and earthworks. 

With the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team and set out using theodolite and tape and / or total station and GPS with demonstrable experience, including working to local / OS grid, you will hold a degree or HNC/HND qualification in Civil Engineering. You will also have familiarity with design software applications such as Civil 3D and Micro-drainage would be advantageous.

You must be able to undertake site analysis to understand the Engineering constraints and opportunities of new development sites to assist with land purchase viability reports.

Following conceptual appraisal you will be responsible for the effective delivery of the Civil Engineering design packages for roads, sewers and plot works, including retaining wall levels whilst procuring technical approvals and section agreements with the appropriate statutory bodies.

As part of the Engineering design you will prepare 3D ground models and carry out cut and fill analysis to optimise the earthworks and balance development sites and assist with materials management plans.

What we are looking for

Ideally a Chartered Civil Engineer, although support will be given to a candidate looking to achieve this qualification, you must be able to demonstrate independent design experience at a senior level and be a confident user of design applications such as Civil 3D and Micro-drainage (WinDes).

This is an excellent opportunity to shape and lead on the Civil Engineering design function of Gentoo Homes as part of a significant investment and expansion within the Engineering team.
