Property
We understand every aspect of the property world from managing, improving and repairing, to design, restoration and new build, on a small or large scale. Our offer is enhanced by our vast experience of delivering these services both in house across our own portfolio, as well as for a range of external customers and partners.
Our unique knowledge of this area comes from our history of acting as the owner, the client and the customer. We have worked on our own £396 million modernisation plan across 30,000 properties; city centre regeneration schemes where we have worked closely with partners to find innovative funding mechanisms; and on a range of large scale projects for external clients including South Tyneside Homes, Berwick Borough Housing and Wansbeck Homes. Our team also deliver responsive repairs, with a five year contract in place with Dale and Valley Homes for its 4,500 properties.
This range of work allows us to see projects from a number of different perspectives and has enabled us to develop a real customer-centric approach. We believe it’s important to have high expectations when it comes to being a customer, and it’s only right that you do too. We offer a one-stop-shop property service and can therefore create a tailor-made offer and a hassle-free process from your project’s beginning to end.
Environmental, quality and space standards are important to us and we are committed to these principles in every project we undertake. We are working on a number of retrofitting projects to ensure our existing stock is fit for purpose and sustainable well in to the future as well as building the UK’s first large scale development designed to formal PassivHaus accreditation, via the Building Research Establishment (BRE).
To add to this knowledge, we spend a lot of time researching new and more sustainable ways of building and have released a ground breaking new report which reviews traditional and PassivHaus based designs against the Code for Sustainable Homes. It demonstrates how a traditional approach can actually be taken up to Code Level 5 and also reveals how an approach based upon PassivHaus principles can meet Code Level 6 or even zero carbon housing.
We encourage innovation and creativity and we understand accessing property can be unachievable for many people. As part of our drive on finding a solution to this, we have progressed a number of access related initiatives over the last year aimed at unlocking housing options for people who are otherwise excluded from the housing market on the grounds of affordability.
