Our award-winning green team is dedicated to leading, supporting and advising the different Gentoo divisions on environmental performance, with the overall aspiration to shape a greener future. Seeking to create an internal culture where the environmental impact of all actions and business decisions are considered, we aim to go beyond compliance with legislation and be at the forefront of best practice.

Whether it is retrofitting our existing homes to be fit for the future, building new sustainable developments, participating in green research and development or simply awareness raising, our ethical approach is embedded in everything we do.

The enthusiasm is certainly not just about green innovation in bricks and mortar. Influencing the hearts and minds of staff, customers and stakeholders is a great starting point for change and we work closely with staff Environmental Champions and customer led Eco Teams.

This commitment is reinforced by Gentoo’s inclusion in the Sunday Times’ Best Green Companies list, three years running as well as achieving ISO 14001 the Environmental Management Standard.

Keen not to just talk a good talk, we have recently purchased solar panel manufacturer and specialist glass-maker Romag. This acquisition brings together two complementary organisations at a time when we are looking to diversify and grow and will build upon our already strong environmental credentials.

The low carbon market will continue to be a strategic area of growth and this puts us in a unique position to take full advantage of opportunities in our sector. Solar energy is a huge agenda with global governmental targets and it is great to be playing a part in it whilst doing our bit for the planet in the process.
